About Me.

Hello, my name is Nathan Hartfil and I am a 2D Animator, but I also do 3D. I will be graduating from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. I am currently working on my senior project, centered around how fun and perfection can go hand in hand. Its going to be a lot fun I just know it will be. To help me out I've been slowly returning to traditional techniques to help me figure out what my characters will look like. In my previous works I was always involved in the digital part and finding what I need on the internet, so going for a still life, and more traditional approach has been a honest good break for me.

A recent accomplishment was the completion of my Junior film. A full minute of animation being 1,440 frames. It honestly took a while but it was worth it, learning from all that I now know need to be more organized. Plus, make sure things are labeled clearly and correctly. Though I need to make sure I'm not over complicating the idea where I need to make sure every derail is correct. I’ve been influenced by a lot of cartoons, comics and shows growing up. Fun and expressive shows like Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Scott Pilgrim takes off, and more have been eye-openers. Though If i had to relate to something that a lines somewhat to my work, its Calvin and Hobbes and his artist statement. To quote him, “ as my artist statement explains, may work is utterly incomprehensible, and is therefore full of deep significance.” If that doesn't explain my artist statement and values of fun. Then I don't know what will.

Education

2019-2022

Mott community college

I was doing the basic stuff and my general education here in this college. its were I learned the basics of sketching, painting, typography and color theory. I cut this college short, and would pursue an educational course here in the college for creative studies thus making me a transfer student.

2011-2014

Bachelor fine arts

College for creative studies

At the College for Creative Studies I would learn varity about the entertainment art industries. All of its ups and downs. but all of its flaws and downsides. the most fun in the classes are hands down all the animation work you can do or try to find. Especially in the 2d/stop motion department which is excellent and highly experimental. It made me really feel flexable and take in criticisms.
